AS | Gastrocs (floor)

INSTRUCTION VIDEO

Stretching of the gastrocnemius muscle is beneficial in preventing injury and also helping to correct muscle tightness problems. Gastrocs floor stretch can be used by people suffering with calf pain, post-knee surgery, to help improve foot and ankle pain and even just to prevent injury in runners.

Instructions

Stand with one leg in front of the other, front leg bent, back leg straight. Slowly lean forwards onto front leg, and push the back heel into the ground. Never let the weight come off the back heel - think of pushing your back heel into the floor whilst you move your body towards the wall until you feel the stretch in the back of the calf and hold.

Special Notes
You should always feel a stretch but don't want to feel a tearing pain so if this is the case, reduce the stretch slightly.
